INSTALLING LOCKING TUNERS ON MY SQUIER JIM ROOT TELECASTER Admin, March 24, 2024 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQbSLVk7PNo&showinfo=0&rel=0What’s up guys, and welcome back to an all new video. As most of my regulars know, I recently purchased a Squier Jim Root telecaster, and it’s hands down my favorite guitar. It holds it’s own compared to the Fender version, with just a slight bit of mods. When I purchased the guitar, the previous owner had already upgraded the pick ups to EMG 81/60s like the Fender version. The only other upgrade that needed to be made was the lack of locking tuners. After doing some research, I realized that a lot of people out there had no idea what kind of tuners to put on this guitar. I also was unable to find a direct fit, so I went with a reliable alternative, and picked up a set of Hipshot closed gear locking tuners. I went with these specific tuners for a couple of reasons…the first being the closed are closer in style to the original tuning machines. The second, is that they come with a universal mounting bracket, which allows for install without screws or drilling holes. They went on without a problem, and the guitar is perfect now. I hope this video helps out anyone that was having issues looking for locking tuners. I also want to shout out my buddy The Grumpy Guitar for his fretboard cleaning product. I’ve been using it for a couple years now and absolutely love the stuff. I’ll leave a link to his Facebook page in case anyone is interested in grabbing a bottle.
